Here are the latest pictures of the new roof. We got several inches of rain last week and it looks like spring. The roof looks so much better with green grass! See the shop in the background? We are getting so close to being finished. We passed the electrical inspection yesterday. Keith was especially excited about this because he and my dad did all the electrical with advice from an electrician friend of ours. BIG money saver. Now he jsut has to finish out the inside and it will be time to move in!!!
Last night, I was praying as I paid bills. I asked the Lord that He provide for us as we try to be faithful with our finances. Literally as I was praying that, Keith called. "I got us a TV." A guy in his office just got a new HDTV and was going to set his old tube TV by the curb. Instead, he is bringing it to work on Friday and is GIVING it to us!! God is so faithful to provide and give us even MORE than we need. Psalm 50:9-11 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.
God has no need of anything and He owns it all. I'm glad He likes to share with His kids!
About a month ago, Keith and I got serious about doing a budget and staying on it. It's so easy to dip into savings to pay the credit card bill each month. We've done really well, and have been making BIG changes in our lifestyle. Soon after we started, our microwave died. Yesterday in all the driving rain, the inside wheel well on Keith's car started coming off and will have to be replaced. Today, our TV died. I'm afraid to wake up tomorrow.
We are in desperate need of groceries. I plan to go in the morning, but thought I'd make a run tonight just for milk, bread, and grapes. So in between rain showers, I loaded all the kids and headed to Wal-mart. Unfortunately, in between naps, feedings and rain showers, it turned out to be 5:30 PM. I should have known better. Nevertheless, we all headed in. After shopping for 20 minutes and then standing in line for another 10, I got to the checkout only to discover my wallet was back at the house. Dagger!!
Last night, Will and Charlie were playing Star Wars in their room. Will was singing the theme song and both were battling the bad guys with their light sabres.
Charlie: "Will, I'm going to deduct." (Has he been watching so much Olympics that he knows about deductions? Will: "Charlie, it's CONduct!" Charlie: "Yeah, I'm going to do that."
Later on that night, I sat down with the boys to read bedtime stories. Charlie sat down in my lap and felt my leg, which hadn't been saved in a day or two. Charlie: "Mommy, you're all sparkley!" Mommy: "What am I?" Charlie: "You know, you got those pokey things all over you!"
No pictures, but we are finally getting rain! We got 2.2 inches in the last 2 days and are scheduled to get more in the next few days. It has also dropped the temperature down into the upper 80's and lower 90's...unheard of for August in Texas. We are grateful for God's goodness to us. Keith and I even got to go to Joe T. Garcia's last night and eat on the patio.
This last Wednesday, my dad called me about 3:00pm and said he had found a source for $2 tickets to Ringling Brothers Circus for that night. With a deal like that, how could we pass it up! Keith was working, which was a bummer, but he said for me to go ahead. My brothers and their families were there as well. I got a sitter for Katie Beth and Jack since it didn't start until 7:30. It was a treat just to have the big boys and spend some time with them.
Thanks, Dad, for the tickets! It was a blast!
Mom, Charlie and Will in front of the Fort Worth Water Gardens. (This is MUCH cleaner than it was when I was growing up!)
Cousins Brittany and Savannah and Savannah's friend Mandy.
Blayne and Will loved sitting together! Blayne talked to Will most of the time, but I think he still enjoyed the circus.
Charlie was mesmerised the entire time! He wants to ride an elephant now.
For weeks now, this is the closest we can get to rain. I can't even tell you how dry it is. This weekend, my sister-in-law looked out the window and asked if we had plans for all that dirt. I asked "What dirt?" She looked closer and realized it really was dead grass on the hill.
I got this pool at Wal-mart for $19.44 and it's the best money I've spent all summer. We've moved it around in the backyard under the trees and the boys have spent HOURS out there. I don't have to worry about sunburns because of the shade and they have a blast!! Even Katie loves climbing in and out over the sides.
This past weekend, my mom hosted the 4th annual Fabulous Female crop for our family. It's a time for all of my female relatives to get together for the weekend and scrapbook. My aunt and uncle came in from Hot Springs, Arkansas and two of my cousins drove in from Houston. Both of my sister-in-laws were also there. I didn't get as much done as I had hoped since I had to leave every 3 hours to go feed Jack, but it was still a great weekend.
My aunt and uncle brought their golden retreiver with them to play with the boys and stay at our house. His name is "Sam" (short for Samuri) and although he is large, he is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. He let Katie Beth "pet" him, the boys "walk" him and all of us love on him. The kids had a BLAST!!! He even slept in their room. Will asked if they could stay "one more day"!
I am blessed to be married to my best friend, who daily makes marriage so easy. I have 4 amazing, healthy and totally different children. I love being home with my kids and serving my family in ways that only a wife and mom can. However, my first love is my Savior Jesus Christ and my aim in life is to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever.
